How many years a CREW Member?
I am an out of practice marathon runner. I have run the NYC Marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon and several half marathons.
What advice would you give on how to achieve work/life balance?
That it is exactly that: BALANCE. It will evolve often, even week to week. Sometimes personal life will be the priority and other times work will have deadlines. It is important to be flexible and adapt as things comes up. For me, it is important to be fully present whenever I am doing either one. When I am with my family, I am fully present and not multitasking on my phone. When I am working, I trust that my children are cared for by others and I can focus on work.
Who or what inspires you? Why?
My twin 5-year old daughters inspire me. I am motivated to break down barriers and improve women in leadership. Anytime I think of how hard something may be, the thought of making the industry more balanced for my daughters, inspires me to work harder.
How do you encourage women reports, colleagues and friends in CRE to persevere, despite challenges?
I encourage women to make sure their accomplishments are seen. So often women have a tendency to think their work speaks for itself and while it may, different parts of leadership may get glimpses of different aspects. The only person who can put all of your accomplishments together and paint the picture of how great you are, is yourself. Keep track of your accomplishments/recognition and share that with your manager at review time or a scheduled sit-down. If a client sends you an email telling you what a great job you did, don't hesitate to forward it on to your manager.
