How Many Years a CREWNY Member?
3

Fun Fact:
I'm an avid cyclist and a member of NYCC (New York Cycle Club). Most weekends (depending on weather) I ride out of the city into NJ, Westchester or LI with friends. We ride anywhere between 40 to 65 miles (what's interesting is at the end of the ride, it always feels like it was just a blink).

Who or what inspires you? Why?
I’ve been in the high-end specialty projects sector for many years working with various artisans in many trades. The architects and designers who created the design, each having their own signature of style, were just as incredible to work with. I was very fortunate to work with these people who were passionate about their work, they treated it with a sort of reverence. They all taught me to have pride in my work, to have enthusiasm. We were always a team no matter how large or small your role and we were all treated with the same respect.

Tell us about an accomplishment you are proud of.
I started in the field of construction in December 1989, I was in college at the time and a friend of mine told me about how the NYS DOT was looking to hire women due to their affirmative action goals. I applied and was one of five women in all of Nassau and Suffolk counties working in the field on highway projects. It wasn’t easy, the office was a field trailer and it was heavy civil construction. However I learned a lot, the field experiences, dealing with the trades, the work itself. I would never have been given that opportunity if it wasn’t for the mandates. It was an incredible experience that I’m very grateful for.

What about CRE ignites your passion? How about in your current role?
I’m on the Sponsorship committee and believe that it is imperative for companies to support women in the commercial real estate business. Their support enables us to network, to help one another and collaborate on supporting each other.
